July 20, 2008Location: Suttle Lake Methodist Camp, in the beautiful Cascades Mountains, 14 miles west of Sisters. Suttle Lake Camp is a special place where the vivid green of Western Oregon mingles with the sunny beauty of the eastern part of the state. Ellis, author and former Chairman of the National Spiritual Assembly of Alaska Description/Highlights: Eastern Oregon National Bahá’í Summer School is located on beautiful Suttle Lake in the mountainous region of Central Oregon amid gorgeous Ponderosa pines. It is a family camp with activities for all ages including hiking, swimming, canoeing, sports, volleyball and an obstacle course if interested. All meals are provided by the camp site staff and are always delicious and nutritious, with vegetarian options always available. Accommodations: Suttle Lake Camp offers three options for housing: two main lodges and individual cabins with restrooms nearby. The atmosphere is always intimate and warm among all participants with many repeat campers from year to year and coming from across the U.S. The speakers and teachers are always enthusiastic and dedicated to educating participants according to the guidelines of the National Spiritual Assembly, and a great time is always had by all. All meals are provided by the camp site staff and are always delicious, with vegetarian options always available. Accommodations: Camp Suttle offers three options for housing: two main lodges and individual cabins with restrooms nearby. Registration is open until camp capacity is reached, approximately 120. The facilities range from rustic cabins to comfortable dormitory-style rooms, and the food is excellent. The School provides an excellent book store and the crafts activities always get high marks.
