RIDVAN Bahá’í Summer School

Thurs. July 17 – Sun. July 20, 2008

Location: Suttle Lake Methodist Camp, in the beautiful Cascades Mountains, 14 miles west of Sisters. Suttle Lake Camp is a special place where the vivid green of Western Oregon mingles with the sunny beauty of the eastern part of the state. Enjoy hiking among the tall trees, swimming or boating in crystal-clear lake water, laughing with new and old friends, and dining on wholesome meals.

Theme: Arise, Engage, and Inspire! The individual and the Five Year Plan, inspiration and action.

Presenters: Dr. Jay Mohindra and Dr. Steve Ellis

Afternoon workshops:

  • Role playing/theater. Skill development and practice of “Anna’s Presentation”
  • Story telling
  • Individual goal setting, utilizing arts
  • Reflection on writings in a natural setting – inspiration and motivation to take action

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Steven E. Ellis, author and former Chairman of the National Spiritual Assembly of Alaska

Description/Highlights: Eastern Oregon National Bahá’í Summer School is located on beautiful Suttle Lake in the mountainous region of Central Oregon amid gorgeous Ponderosa pines. It is a family camp with activities for all ages including hiking, swimming, canoeing, sports, volleyball and an obstacle course if interested. All meals are provided by the camp site staff and are always delicious and nutritious, with vegetarian options always available.

Accommodations: Suttle Lake Camp offers three options for housing: two main lodges and individual cabins with restrooms nearby.
Registration is open until camp capacity is reached, approximately 120.

Description/Highlights Of School: Eastern Oregon National Bahá’í Summer School is located on beautiful Suttle Lake in the mountainous region of Central Oregon amid gorgeous Ponderosa pines. It is a family camp with activities for all ages including hiking, swimming, canoeing, sports, volleyball and an obstacle course if interested. The atmosphere is always intimate and warm among all participants with many repeat campers from year to year and coming from across the U.S. The speakers and teachers are always enthusiastic and dedicated to educating participants according to the guidelines of the National Spiritual Assembly, and a great time is always had by all. All meals are provided by the camp site staff and are always delicious, with vegetarian options always available.

Accommodations: Camp Suttle offers three options for housing: two main lodges and individual cabins with restrooms nearby.
Most classes are held in the lodge main meeting rooms, and sometimes the outdoors tables are used to enjoy the fresh air.

Registration is open until camp capacity is reached, approximately 120.

Fees: Adults (3 nights, 9 delicious meals): $120 to $142, depending on accommodations desired

Description/Highlights of School: Set in the beautiful Cascade mountains of Central Oregon, Suttle Lake Camp offers a wide variety of outdoor recreation, including hiking, swimming and canoeing. The facilities range from rustic cabins to comfortable dormitory-style rooms, and the food is excellent. The School provides an excellent book store and the crafts activities always get high marks. A bonfire with music & a marshmallow roast is just one of the highlights of the evening programs.
