Ideas from the Committees—Children and Junior Youth Programs

Creating PowerPoints to Augment Lessons

Louisiana Bahá’í School teachers (and sisters) Khandan Simmons (Level One) and Shamsi Monajem (Level Three) each expanded on the lessons in the Teacher’s Toolbox for their classes by creating PowerPoint presentations. By “Googling” for instance “San Francisco 1912” Khandan found historical photos of a hotel ‘Abdu’l-Bahá visited. Both teachers added new pictures they downloaded to the ones provided in the Resource Pages of each Lesson, created a script by cutting and pasting some parts of the Lesson, and put together visually rich PowerPoint programs. Bringing their laptops to the classroom, they used these to tell stories and introduce various topics — a completely personalized visual aid. For further information, contact Shamsi Monajem at meshamsi@yahoo.com
