Ideas from the Committees—Aids to Administration

“Annual Theme Breakdown” from Colorado East’s National Bahá’í School

As an idea of how to approach whatever the theme of study is, here is how Colorado East Bahá’í School Committee tackled the 2005 theme topics:

  • Committee deepened on the compilation “A System The Like Of Which Mortal Eyes Have Never Witnessed”
  • Committee agreed that the goal of Summer School 2005 is to have attendees come away with a knowledge and understanding of all the administrative bodies and the idea that it is the body that is important NOT the individual members.
  • Committee agreed to do an all-ages physical activity for the first session that sends the message that the power is within the institution not the individual. The group working as one is where authority and decisions come from. (Example: Ropes course)
  • Committee agreed a copy of the compilation would be provided to each youth and adult attending the school.

* Committee agreed To take a “jigsaw approach” to the compilation and break out camp attendees into groups or study circles (NSA group, Continental Board of Counselors, Universal House of Justice...etc.) The tables in the dining area would each be labeled with a different group with compilations on each table relative to the topic. Attendees would sit with their group at lunch and study the material during lunch. One evening towards the end of the school we would do a Trivial Pursuit style game with new groups created from one member from each of the original groups.
